COMMUNITY JUSTICE SERVICESThis is a paraprofessional position that providesadministrative support to the case management unit and department operations.
This position involves clerical tasks and direct contact with clients for filepreparation, program assessment, and successful placement in our community.
This position is designed to support various functions throughout the CommunityJustice Services Department.
Generally, the hiring range is $38,261-$47,826 annually.
Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

) Answers telephone and greets the public, provides accurateprogram information, convey messages, and participate in the affectiveresolution of problems and complaints.
Utilizes and accesses the State of Colorado's database tofollow and record next court date information and decipher dispositioninformation for program enrollment.
Performs complex clerical tasks:
compiles,verifies, and maintains records on the Division's automated computer system.
May process invoices and purchase orders associated with the programs operatingout the Community Justice Service Department.
Maintains and is responsible for receiving and recordingprogram fees associated with Pretrial Release Supervision, In-home Detention,DCMOP and Community Service programs.
Maintains an accurate account of the Division'spetty cash.
Interprets minute orders to accurately assess and setuppretrial release, DCMOP, community service and in-home detention clientele onthe Division's automated computer system.
Prepares physical files and initialpaperwork for CJS Officers.
Receives referrals from the District/County courts,Probation Officers, and other criminal justice entities for defendants who arecourt ordered to complete community service hours.
Interviews, screens, and places defendants inappropriate nonprofit agencies to complete their community service hours.
Maintains a caseload monitoring client performance withreferral agency and prepares written reports indicating the client's complianceor noncompliance with the Useful Public Service / Alternative Servicesprogram.
May assist Community JusticeServices Officers with a variety of caseload management responsibilities.
May have increased responsibilities in case management andresolving system related problems and procedures.
Other duties as assigned, including:
Respond toclients/community members requesting assistance in the front lobby.
Participate in team meetings, trainings,outside meetings, and audits as requested.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position is under the guidance of a CJS Division Manager andreports directly to our CJS Supervisor.
Worksunder general supervision with frequent review/audit of work.
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
None.
INDEPENDENTJUDGMENT:
This position requires a levelof independent judgment regarding the daily tasks of file management, casemanagement guidance, program assessment, and general assistance within thecriminal justice field.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
An associatedegree in a discipline that relates to the responsibilities assigned ispreferred.
Two years of criminal justice experience preferred.
All prioradministrative experience will be considered.
A combination of education andexperience may be considered.
Bilingual in Spanish at an advancedlevel is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
Read and comprehend department, rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
General office practices and procedures.
Basic principles, practices, and objectives as related to correctional services and programs.
Community resources and agencies pertinent to the client population.
Emergency procedures including how to respond to crisis situations.
Principles, practices, and objectives as related to case management and planning.
Skills:
Effective collection, analysis, and presentation of statistical and technical data.
Accurate preparation of legal forms and case files.
Strong customer service skills, with emphasis on educating others regarding complex concepts, de-escalating sensitive situations, and demonstrating empathy.
Mathematical skills needed to analyze, understand, and explain financial case elements Organization and time management skills such that work is completed efficiently and timely.
Expert operation of standard office equipment:
computer, multi-line phone system, copiers, scanners Advanced typewriting skills.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Cash handling and associate record keeping.
Abilities:
Must be able to think broadly and critically; analyzing a situation or case facts to make an independent decision.
Ability to follow semi-complex oral and written instructions.
Verbal and written ability to communicate information thoroughly and effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS:
Must be a Notary Public or obtain certification within 30days of hire.
This position requires successful completion of a criminalbackground check including fingerprinting through a national database.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in a typicaloffice environment with close and frequent contact with the public and staffmembers.
Physical Demands:
The nature of work is primarily sedentary.
Mostof the workday is spent at a computer, looking at a screen requiring closevision.
While performing the duties ofthe job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear,and reach with hands and arms.
Materialand Equipment Directly Used:
Daily work includes use of a computer (laptop ordesktop), mouse, keyboard, headset, multi-line phone system.
Work may include general use of officeequipment such as:
telephones, copiers, scanners, mail machines andaudio/visual equipment.

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions.
This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required.
In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
